As an interaction designer in Accenture Federal Services, I engaged with government agencies to tackle organizational and civilian-facing challenges through design, with a proclivity for human centric design research. Since most of my projects required public trust or clearance, I am unable to share project specifics. Below are general summaries of what I worked on.
Empowering Kidney Transplant Patients
Client: Department of Health and Human Services
Role: Lead design researcher and interaction designer. 16 weeks
Description: Every day, people cope with chronic illnesses that demand they seek organ transplantation.
As the lead researcher, I guided a team of 6 designers through a 5 week discovery research effort, aimed at 1) creating design and policy momentum by amplifying the narrative of patients’ experiences and 2) identifying key moments of opportunity for design. We engaged 21 patients and 34 healthcare professionals at 4 locations around the country.
This research informed an executive order in 2019 and has won multiple awards for its effectiveness in storytelling.
Mid-size Business Development
Client: Department of Agriculture
Award: $20-30 Million
Role: Lead interaction designer. 4 weeks
Description: Our team won a mid-size award to help the Department of Agriculture modernize the farmer-facing experience. As a primary designer and strategist, I guided a team of 2 designers, 2 Accenture executives, and 3 developers towards the creation of a technical demonstration in response to a call for proposals. I presented this successful demo during the client team pitch presentation.
Internal Application Redesign
Client: Department of Veterans Affairs
Role: Design research lead. 7 weeks
Description: The Benefits Administration is migrating a current productivity tool from a externally owned web application into a department-owned system on a COTS platform. My research team has focused on how employees work with their systems and ultimately help veterans. I helped plan all research activities, coordinating travel to two different locations for one-week (each) of interview sessions.
As the lead researcher, I guided a team of 3 designers through 34 in-context interviews.

Minority Businesses and Gov't Aid
Client: Department of Commerce
Role: Design researcher. 3 months
Description: The recent administration appointed a leader for an agency within the Department of Commerce. Our design team was brought in to help the agency realign on a new vision. Through interviews with stakeholder, end "customers," and partnering agencies, we informed the priority for internal realignment around the broader mission and core values.
8 semi-structured interviews and 8 second-hand research interviews.
Public Data Tool
Client: Department of Commerce
Role: Interaction designer. 13 months
Description: Accenture has been tasked with designing how civilians can have improved access to the reliable data about the nation's people, places an economy. As a team of designers, we created a beta release for a comprehensive search experience. Access the tool here.
As an interaction designer, I was responsible with requirements gathering, creating data-driven wireframes, collecting client feedback, generating a user-centered design practice within the client team, and sprint planning.
